Muktinath is a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists located in Muktinath Valley at an altitude of 3,710 meters at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass (part of the Himalayas) in Mustang, Nepal. The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa.

According Hinduism, it is called Mukti Kshetra, which literally means the place of liberation or moksha. The ancient name of this place in Sri Vaishnava literature, before Buddhist origin clarification needed, is Thiru Saligram (Fossils). This clarification needed houses the Saligrama shila, considered to be the naturally available form of Sriman Narayana the Hindu Godhead. It is also one of the 51 Shaktipeethams. The Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa, which in Tibetan means Hundred Waters. Although the temple has a Vaishnava origin, it is also revered in Buddhism. For Tibetan Buddhists, Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa is a very important place of Dakinis, goddesses known as Sky Dancers, and one of the 24 Tantric places. Day 1 :Arrival to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

Day 4 :Pokhara – Fly to Jomsom 20 minute/Trek to Kagbeni 2800m./2 hrs.

Day 5 :Trek to Muktinath 3800m./5hrs.

Day 6 :Trek to Jomsom 2700m./6hrs.

Day 7 :Exploration Day

Day 8 :Fly Back to Pokhara 20 minute- Explore Pokhara. Overnight at Pokhara.

Day 9 :Fly/Drive back to Kathmandu (Flight 30 minute/Drive 7hrs.)

Day 10 :Final Departure


 Accomodation

Himalaya Family provide the accommodations during the trek are on twin sharing basis with inclusive cost and are chosen based on standard of hygiene food and suitable location. Most of the Lodges has clean rooms and separate Bathrooms. We will use small lodge during the trek and 2/3 star category Hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara. We also provide 3/4/5 star hotel on your request.


 Meals

We will provide the Food on full board basis will be served during the trek in the mountains. Three meals in a day (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner) will be served from  the lodge. The dinner and breakfast will be served in the same lodge we spend the night. Lunch will be taken on the way to destination at a tea houses. Breakfasts will be served in Kathmandu/Pokhara as well. Most of the lodges has the food menu, Our Guide will suggest you the organic and hygienic local meal.


Day 1 : Arrival to Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel
When you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), our company representative will welcome you and drive towards the designated hotel. After a rest for a while, we will give a short briefing about our program and you will be provided with a Typical Nepali welcome Dinner in the evening.

Day 2 : Sight Seeing in KTM valley and prepare for trekking
Next day, we provide sightseeing guided by an expert to visit many beautiful places listed in the UNESCO heritage sites such as the Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swoyambhunath Stupa, Durbar Square and many more.

Day 3 : Kathmandu – Pokhara (7hrs by Land/30m. flight)
Either take a flight OR Drive by tourist coach from Kathmandu to Pokhara by scenic Prihivi high way which will take you about 7 hour drive including a time for lunch on the way. We will will drop you to the hotel. Welcome drinks will be served in hotel than short time for refreshment. In the evening you can go for boating trip on Phewa Lake will follow where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Annapurna Himalayan Range reflected in all it's glory in the calm green waters of the lake and visit the Barahi temple which is only accessible by boat. f you take a flight, it takes only 45 minute. Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 4 : Pokhara – Fly to Jomsom 20 minute/Trek to Kagbeni 2800m./2 hrs.
Early Morning, Our Guide will take you to Pokhara airport for amazing flight to Jomsom. You will watch the views of Annapurna ranges and Dhaulagiri ranges very closely. It takes only 20 minute flight to Jomsom. After landed at Jomsom, you will have hot Breakfast and register your permit than continue walk to Kagbeni. The trail that goes along the bank of the Kaligandaki River towards Kagbeni via via EkleBhatti. Kagbeni is a unique famous village of twelve villages in Mustang district. It is a gateway to Upper Mustang. It is a fascinating medieval village with closely packed mud brick houses, dark alleys and imposing Chhortens. The village stands in a little green oasis dominated by its red monastery. The "Kag" of "Kagbeni" used to be "Ghag" meaning centre and hence, is a centre of nearby villages of Jomsom to south and Muktinath to the east. "Beni" in Nepali means confluence of two rivers: Kali Gandaki and Jhong River. Hindu Pilgrims pilgrims offer Pinda and perform Shraddha (death ritual) to their deceased ancestors at this confluence believing that it brings salvation to the departed soul. Local People are Buddhist in this village. There is very old (18th Century) Monastery; it is one of the important Shakya Pa sect monasteries of twelve villages. Overnight at Kagbeni.

Day 5 : Trek to Muktinath 3800m./5hrs.
After Explore of Kagbeni we will follow the trail that ascends steeply to the upper valley with magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak and the Kali Gandaki Valley. We will pass through one of the oldest village in the region - the village of Jharkot where the culture and tradition is largely influenced by Tibetan culture. From there we will climb all the way to reach an important pilgrimage site for Buddhist and Hindus - Muktinath. Muktinath is situated at an altitude of 38000m. at the base of Kathang Kang (Thorung Peak), in Baarah Gaun (lit. twelve villages) region in Mustang district. It is a gateway to Mustang from Manang on the famous Annapurna Circuit Trek route. Named after the highly revered Muktinath shrine, the valley is one of the religious places in Nepal for both Hindu and Buddhist. Hindus call it Muktichhetra (lit. the salvation region). Many Shaligrams (Ammonite) found here are considered by the Hindu as the incarnation of Lord Bishnu and worship them (According to Hindu myth,Lord Bishnu turned into the Shaligram because of Brinda’s curse, wife of Jhalandhar). Similarly Buddhist call this valley Chuming Gyatsa (lit. the place of 108 waterspouts) It is believed that Guru Rimpoche (Padmasambhava), the scholar and founder of Tibetan Buddhism once meditated and gained the lifetime achievement of spiritual enlightenment, while on his way to Tibet in the 12th century. The valley has seven famous historic villages: Putak, Jhong, Chhyonkhar, Purang, Jharkot, and Khinga. Ranipauwa(lit. queen's pilgrim hostel, named after Queen Subarna Prabha Devi) is a new settlement founded by the people of Purang. Most of the hotels are located here. The main ethnic group of the valley is Bhotias (posses’ last name Thakuri and Gurung) of Tibetan origin. Overnight at Muktinath.

Day 6 : Trek to Jomsom 2700m./6hrs.
After Visiting Muktinath, the trail leads way back to Jomsom. we will follow the same trail to Kingar and than trek upper trail to Eklebhatti. After eklebhatti, again follow the same trail to Jomsom. This walk offers stunning views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and openly wider views of Mustang villages. Overnight at Jomsom.

Day 7 : Exploration Day
Today, you will explore Jomsom area. After breakfast, you will start your exploration trip with guide to know about culture, people, history, sites around this area. You will make sight-seeing as much as you can. The name Jomsom is originated from the Tibetan word Dzong Sampa, which translates as "New Fort". The three-eyed king Thang Mig Chen of Thini village established the fort in order to monitor movement of north-south trade. The fort and the town which grew up around it, were both called Dzong Sampa. Jomsom has been district headquarters of Mustang since early 1970s and all government offices are located here. This is a major town of Kali Gandaki valley (kind of extension of the lost importance) during times of ancient Tibet - India salt trade which led through this area. The inhabitants are mostly Thakali with Tibetan origins. The major economical factors are agriculture, livestock, tourism and labor to abroad. You will make a side trip in Jomsom area: Jomsom Eco Museum, Syang Village, Thini village (Bonpo Gompa), Gharab Dzong, Dumpa Lake, Kuchup Terenga Gompa, Marpka Village. All the side trip area covers the views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri and more.. Overnight at Jomsom.

Day 8 : Fly Back to Pokhara 20 minute- Explore Pokhara. Overnight at Pokhara.
So, After earlier breakfast at Jomsom, ready to go airport and fly back to Pokhara.. After arriving Pokjhara, you will have enough time to explore. Check in to Hotel first and few minute for refreshment. You will make sight-seeing with our guide to Davis fall, Gupteshwor Cave, world Peace stupa, International Mountain Museum, Tal Barahi Temple (Boating at Phewa Lake). Enjoy your dinner at Lakeside. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 9 : Fly/Drive back to Kathmandu (Flight 30 minute/Drive 7hrs.)
Today you will take either flight Or drive back to Kathmandu. If you take a flight, it takes only 40 minute to Kathmandu and if you take land transport, it takes 6/7 hours to Kathmandu through the Prithvi Highway. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 10 : Final Departure
So, Today is the last day in Nepal for this tour, Our representative will take you to Tribhuvan International Airport by tourist vehicle.
